John Constable – The Hay Wain

This painting is a faithful reproduction of the famous work The Hay Wain by John Constable (1776–1837), one of the most renowned English painters of the Romantic movement. A forerunner of Impressionism, Constable is best known for his evocative landscapes of the English countryside.

Painted in 1821, the scene shows two men guiding an old hay cart through a shallow river, set within the rural landscape of Suffolk. One of the painting’s most striking features is the dramatic sky, a hallmark of Constable’s work and a reflection of the region’s changing weather.

This large-format painting (130 x 185 cm) is currently housed in the National Gallery in London.
